Cross-Docking Services That Keep Freight Moving

Some product doesn't need to sit in a warehouse. It needs to move — from an inbound trailer to an outbound trailer, sorted and reloaded, as fast as possible.

When cross-docking is done right, it eliminates storage costs, compresses delivery timelines, and turns your supply chain from a series of stops into a continuous flow. Mikhaiel Logistics operates cross-dock facilities purpose-built for speed. Our Montreal terminal handles high-velocity freight transfers for Eastern Canada. Our Belleville and Calgary facilities support cross-dock operations alongside their warehousing capabilities.

How Cross-Docking Works at Mikhaiel

Inbound Receiving

Freight arrives — full truckloads from suppliers, consolidation shipments from multiple origins, or import containers. Our dock team unloads, verifies quantities, and sorts product by outbound destination.

Sorting & Consolidation

A single inbound truck carrying product for 20 different stores gets broken down by delivery route. Three partial shipments from different suppliers get consolidated into one full truckload. Import containers get repalletized for Canadian retail compliance.

Outbound Loading

Sorted freight gets loaded onto outbound trailers, staged for the next available departure. Turn time from dock-in to dock-out can be measured in hours.

Our Cross-Dock Network

Montreal, Quebec — Dedicated Cross-Dock Terminal

Purpose-built for high-velocity freight transfer. Located in the Montreal metro area with fast access to Autoroutes 20, 40, and 15. Handles Eastern Canada distribution, Quebec regional deliveries, and transfer operations between Ontario and the Maritimes.

Belleville, Ontario — Cross-Dock Operations Within Main Facility

Cross-dock lanes running alongside traditional warehousing. Inbound freight from Western Canada or the US gets sorted and redirected to Ontario and Quebec destinations without being put away into racking.

Calgary, Alberta — Cross-Dock Support Within Western Canada Facility

For freight destined for Western Canada, our Calgary facility supports cross-dock operations to break down consolidated loads for regional distribution.

When Cross-Docking Makes Sense

  • Product is pre-allocated — you already know where it's going before it arrives
  • Speed matters more than storage — perishables, promotional inventory, time-sensitive retail replenishment
  • Consolidation reduces cost — combining small shipments into full truckloads
  • You're importing containers — product needs to be broken down and redistributed domestically
  • Regional redistribution — national inventory needs to be split and routed to regional markets
